Oil Change and Quick Lube Shops

Google Ads for oil change and quick lube shops. Are your ads filling the bays?

Oil change clicks are cheap. The waste is in ads shown to drivers too far away to come in, ads running when the bays are closed, and tracking that misses everyone who just drives in. I audit your Google Ads and show you where the money goes. No pitch. You keep the report.

Takes 24-48 hours. You keep the report regardless.

    vs.
    $2.01 to $7.03
a click for "oil change coupons"
    • "Oil change near me" gets about 1,500,000 searches a month
    • Coupon searches top out higher than the plain ones
    • The audit checks whether your budget reaches drivers close enough to come in

Based on market data from Google Keyword Planner, United States, October 2026: the low and high top-of-page bid for each search.

The click is cheap. The wasted ones add up anyway.

A repair shop wants fewer oil change searches. For you they're the business, so the job is different: reach drivers close enough to come in, while you're open, and count the ones who do.

    The Money
    Repeat Visits
An oil change customer comes back on a schedule. The first visit is worth more than its ticket, so the account should be judged on new customers, not just the cost of one car.
    The Trap
    Wide Radius
Few drivers cross town for an oil change. Ads shown to drivers outside your area cost the same per click and almost never pull in.
    The Blind Spot
    Drive-Ins
Most customers never call or fill out a form. They just pull in. If the account only counts calls, it can't tell what's working.

Every audit covers the whole account. These three patterns decide where most oil change budgets go.

Four things that decide whether oil change ads pay off.

Every audit covers the whole account, but these four areas decide how many of your clicks turn into cars in the bay.

    01

    Search Terms

DIY searches like "how to change oil," parts, jobs and searches for the national chains. I pull the full search terms report and show you what's recoverable each month.

    02

    Radius and Locations

Whether each location targets the drivers who can actually reach it, and whether a busy site is taking budget a slower one needs.

    03

    Hours and Schedule

Whether ads run when the bays are open, and whether "open now" and Sunday searches find you when you are.

    04

    Drive-In Tracking

Whether calls, directions requests, offer redemptions and, where Google makes them available, store visits are counted, so bidding follows real customers.

How most oil change accounts are set up, and what I change.

The same budget goes a lot further when it's pointed at drivers who can pull in today.

Typical SetupHow I Set It Up
Keywords Broad match like "car maintenance" and "auto service" Oil change searches plus synthetic, "open now" and your town names
Radius The whole metro area A tight area around each location, set from where customers actually come from
Schedule Ads running around the clock Ads on while you're open, with your hours in the ad
Tracking Calls only, so drive-ins are invisible Calls, directions, offer redemptions and store visits where available
Offers The same coupon for everyone, never measured Offers tested against whether those customers come back
Result Spend you can't tie to cars in the bay Budget aimed at nearby drivers, with visits you can count

Huge demand, cheap clicks, and no room for waste.

US average monthly searches and top of page bid ranges from Google Keyword Planner data, pulled October 2026. Almost every top bid is under $7, so a few hundred wasted clicks a month is real money.

How I set up Google Ads for an oil change shop.

Whether you run one bay or a dozen locations, each piece gets its own budget and its own measure of success. Here's what changes from one to the next.

    Oil change near me

1,500,000 searches a month, with top bids of $2.21 to $6.79. This is the core campaign, and it lives or dies on radius. I set it per location from where customers actually come from, not a round number of miles.

    Synthetic and high mileage

"full synthetic oil change" gets 40,500 searches a month and costs no more to click than a basic one. Those drivers already expect a bigger ticket, so they get their own ads and, where it helps, their own budget.

    Open now and weekends

"oil change open now" (2,400 a month) and "oil change open sunday" (1,900) are drivers ready to pull in. Ads run only while you're open and show your hours, so these clicks turn into cars instead of locked doors.

    Coupons and price searches

"oil change coupons" gets 110,000 searches and tops out at $7.03, the highest consumer bid on the list. Price searches aren't automatically bad for an oil change shop. I track offer redemptions separately so you can see whether those customers come back at full price.

    Add-on services

"tire rotation near me" gets 22,200 searches a month at oil change prices. Services you already do in the bay are a cheap way to bring in a car you can offer an oil change to, and the other way around.

    Fleet accounts

"fleet oil change" gets only 260 searches a month, but its top bid reaches $22.07, because one fleet is worth many drivers. If you serve fleets, it gets a small campaign and a page aimed at the person who books the vehicles.

Three steps. 48 hours. No fluff.

I keep it simple on purpose. The point is for you to understand what I found, not to sit through a 60-minute presentation.

Built for oil change and quick lube shops.

Independent and multi-location oil change shops running Google Ads who want more cars in the bay, not just more clicks.

    Independent Shops

    Independent Quick Lubes

One or two locations, where the owner still keeps an eye on the ad spend.

    • Clicks coming in, bays not full
    • Ads running when you're closed
    • No idea which ads bring cars in
    • Competing with the national chains
    • Managing the account yourself at night
    Multi-Location

    Multi-Location Operators

Several sites, where one budget has to cover very different neighborhoods.

    • Busy sites taking budget from slow ones
    • One radius for every location
    • No report by location
    • Opening a new site
    • Spending more each month without clearer results
